Cypriots proved to be quick learners, and they make really good wines. First Wine Festival was carried out on the island in 1961 on the initiative of the Association of Limassol development. Since then local authorities carry out this festival every year in the beginning of September. During this period wines of all local large and small wine-making companies are shown off in special stands. The owners of these companies hold sacred traditions of their ancestors. The festival organizer is the municipality of Limassol, which allows to all participants and guests of the festival to taste any of presented wines free of charge. The Festival admission is certainly free.
